Happy 35th Shane!

For the first time in years about 6 years, Shane was home for his birthday. We made him a little sign in the morning before he came home from his 30 hours at the hospital... The boys were so excited to make his presents... Mason made him a bird feeder and Jackson made him a rain gauge. Both turned out so cute and were made with a lot of love. Shane loves to feed the birds (toppins a bag) he gets a kick out of seeing the amazing birds fly into the back yard and battle the ever-tenacious squirrels for their bounty. FYI, squirrel- proof bird feeders are a myth!! So the bird feeder and the rain gauge were a big hit.

We also bought Shane some highly sought after golf shoes...which makes me smile a little because-- when does the poor guy have time to wack a ball through the air with a stick? He played eighteen holes with a friend earlier this month and at about the 9th hole his friend quit keeping score. Par 18 anyone? But he is determined to improve his golf game and I'm pretty sure these shoes will do the trick! Go Shane!!

Shane's favorite present of all... coming home to Isaac yelling, "YAY! The birthday boy is here!!!" I hope if nothing else... he knew just how much he is loved!

Sarah (Shane's Sister and her husband), Tim and their boys came down from Dallas to hang out... unfortunately Shane was exhausted... so he slept while we watched the UTES go down in flames to some quacking ducks! uggg!!!!!

Then Shane did a minor procedure on Tim's lip... pictures to gross to post... but he survived just fine... see how happy he looks in this picture?

We were then treated to a delicious dinner at Olive Garden. Thanks Tim and Sarah!

Happy Birthday Shane! I love you!

Bad Hair Day

I know why I had 3 sons and THEN the girl. Girl hair frustrates me to no end, especially since Bella wakes up with a rats nest nearly every morning, and then throws an absolute fit when I try to comb it out, no matter how gentle I am. I hardly have time to do my own hair... let alone try and put hers up in any kind of cute way, as she throws herself around on the floor.

Trying to distract her with something only works half the time... is it even worth the battle? My only saving grace is this stinkin cute smile she has...

Waco Zoo (That's Waco not Wacko)

Shane was home on Labor Day and we took a rare trip to the zoo together that turned out to be much more enjoyable than most zoo trips. I'm not a big fan of the zoo... but for lack of anything better to do we headed to Waco for a little family time.

The boys really wanted to go to the reptile exhibit, and of course, Shane refused to go within 100 feet of the place, so we parted ways and I took the boys to see the .... evil little devils, while Shane stayed with Isabella. When we came out, Shane was gone and nowhere to be found... he decided to go on without us but didn't realize I didn't bring my phone, so he couldn't call me. After 30 minutes of frustration and running around sweating to death... I relented and asked a random lady if I could borrow her phone. Embarrassing! Finally we met up with Shane and after we proceeded to blame each other for the miscommunication, we moved on and enjoyed the rest of the trip.

There is a new Asian Jungle exhibit that just opened up that was awesome... the kids climbed around like monkeys and had a great time. Here are a few of the pictures

BYU vs. OU

Shane had the opportunity to witness the unbelievable BYU and OU matchup at the new and amazing Dallas stadium with his Dad and brothers. None of us expected it to turn out the way it did... and I was so happy that Shane was there to take it all in and especially spend some much deserved down time with his brothers and dad.

Let me clarify... I'm a Ute fan ... but I made an exception and cheered for the Cougars while watching the game at home, and ironing clothes for Sunday morning... but I'm not bitter. :) . The best part was hearing the commentator at the end of the game say, "I think Max Hall just said ,' Oh my gosh! or whatever they say in Provo!" That made my night.

What an amazing game! I was nearly converted :) Go cougars! Keep it up! (Except for when you play the U).
